"Our founding principles apply not just to Washington or Augusta, but right here in our town. It’s time for leadership that respects life, protects liberty, and gets government out of the way of families and businesses." - David Ireland, Lincoln Town Councilor

My Priorities As Your Town Councilor...
1. Put Lincoln Taxpayers First “Protect your paycheck, not inflate Town Hall’s.”
  • Families and small businesses in Lincoln are being squeezed harder every year, while town government keeps getting bigger.

  • That means real relief for seniors on fixed incomes, veterans who have served our country, and every taxpayer who deserves a fair shake.

  • It’s time to put taxpayers first and stop letting Town Hall grow at your expense.

I will work to identify wasteful and unnecessary spending, and with a new Town Council, implement real tax savings that lower your property tax bill.

2. Replace Town Manager “Accountability starts at the top.”
  • Lincoln deserves a Town Manager who serves with integrity, accountability, and respect for human life.

  • After the horrific failure to respond to a neighboring town’s 911 call — and the shocking comments made afterward — trust has been broken.

  • The current Town Manager cannot lead Lincoln forward.

I will make a motion to terminate Mr. Bronson's contract as Lincoln's Town Manager immediately. DONE Will be hiring a Town Manager the people of Lincoln deserve...soon.

3. Make Spending Transparent & Accountable Your money. Your say.”
  • Every dollar Lincoln spends comes from you, the taxpayers. You deserve to know exactly where it goes.

  • Budgets should be open, simple to understand, and explained in plain language—not buried in jargon.

  • Transparency means accountability—and accountability means a Town Council that finally puts the residents of Lincoln first.

As Town Councilor, I will make a motion to make every Lincoln town employee’s name, title, job description, and pay rate listed clearly on the Town of Lincoln’s website. In addition, all monthly expenditures, bids, and purchase orders should be listed clearly on online.

4. Establish A Better Town Council For Lincoln “It’s time for new voices, not old excuses.”
  • The current Council majority ignored the people of Lincoln when they chose to renew the Town Manager’s contract and even reward him with a raise. That decision showed they are more interested in protecting the status quo than serving the public.

  • An end must come to the dangerous policy of putting profits ahead of life-saving support for our neighbors. We must return to the past policy of mutual aid with surrounding towns—because when lives are at risk, helping each other is not optional.

  • Lincoln deserves a Town Council that listens, that puts taxpayers and families first, and that works for the people—not against them.

As Town Councilor, I will be a strong voice for Lincoln’s residents and taxpayers. Beyond listening one-on-one to your ideas and concerns, I will host an informal open forum every three months—giving you the chance to ask questions, share concerns, and speak directly with me.

About David Ireland, Jr.

My name is David Ireland Jr., and I am proud to call Lincoln, Maine my home. I was raised here, and I am raising my family here because I believe deeply in the values, traditions, and sense of community that define small-town Maine.

Over the years, I have worn many hats—building contractor, paralegal, journalist, writer, and filmmaker. As a contractor, I learned firsthand what it means to manage a budget, meet deadlines, and deliver results. I have worked with blueprints, permits, rising material costs, and real-world constraints. That experience taught me the importance of fiscal discipline, careful planning, and doing the job right the first time—especially when taxpayer dollars are involved.

As a journalist and filmmaker, I have traveled across Maine and throughout the country, listening to the stories of everyday Americans. Those conversations reinforced a simple truth: government exists to serve the people—not the other way around.

I am serving on the Town Council because Lincoln deserves a government that is transparent, responsible, and accountable. That means keeping taxes fair, cutting waste, opening town operations to public scrutiny, and restoring a strong tradition of mutual aid with our neighboring communities—because when lives are at stake, helping one another is not optional.

This is not about politics. It is about people. It is about ensuring seniors can afford to remain in their homes, young families feel confident putting down roots, and every taxpayer knows their voice is heard and respected.

I look forward to listening, working hard, and standing up for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—right here in Lincoln.
